Network Rail has responded to the Arbroath Herald over a gate repair and has agreed that work needs to be done, it has been reported.
According to the publication, a reader phoned its office recently to raise concerns over pedestrian gates on the level crossing at Elliot, noting that the gates had been secured for many years by stout metal bolts.
These old gates were then replaced with gates that were not completely secure as they tended to blow open rather than stay shut, the concerned reader explained to the newspaper.
After putting the point to Network Rail, the Arbroath Herald received this response from a spokesman: "Based on your reader's concerns, we have inspected the gate and agree that it does need repairs.
"These will be done as quickly as possible."
Earlier this month, it emerged that Castle Point borough council are thinking about installing two-metre high fencing around the King George V Playing Fields for increased security and local people are to be allowed to have their say.
