Boat house and railing work announced for Lincolnshire

Boat house and railing work announced for Lincolnshire

24/03/2009

Chapel St Leonards' beach in Lincolnshire is to get a new boat house and lookout as part of a £4 million initiative, it has emerged.

Some of this funding will go towards improving railings in the area, senior project officer at Lincolnshire county council Alistair Humphreys told the Skegness Standard.

According to the publication, the new boat house, which may feature some fresh gates, will be situated on the dunes of Chapel's main beach and the second phase of the Bathing Beauties project, designed to improve the coastline.

"We want this to be a useful building. It's architecturally set up to be something to look at but we want it to be used in and out of season," Mr Humphreys told the newspaper.

North Yorkshire county council is also looking to improve railings in one of its coastal areas.

It announced earlier this month that pedestrian guard rails along the promenade at Sandsend, near Whitby, are to be enhanced and treated with a resilient paint.
