A new project in Swindon will see railings and brick pillars restored around Faringdon Road Park, it has emerged.
The initiative will cost £200,000 and should be completed by the Autumn with work expected to start in the summer, with refurbishment being undertaken from the Drill Hall on Park Lane round to some disused public toilets on Faringdon Road, This is Wiltshire reported.
Nick Martin, Swindon council's lead member for property, leisure and recreation, told the publication that it was very positive news for the town.
"This is a jewel of the town and with this project we are restoring it to its former glory," he commented.
He revealed to the paper that funding to improve the railings and pillars had come from developers, meaning the council tax base is unaffected.
It was recently reported that a different restoration project had been undertaken to restore Dalzell Estate and Barons Haugh RSPB Reserve.
New traditional-style gates were installed at the site.
