Oldham properties 'set for new gates'

Family properties in Derker, Oldham have had improvements made to them as part of the Housing Market Renewal initiative.

Residents Eric and Dorothy Davies said they were very pleased with the work and Ms Davies revealed that their house will be getting some new gates and railings.

"After years the brickwork had got dirty. You never think about it but it does look good now. The work is improving all the properties," Ms Davies commented.

She noted that the Housing Market Renewal team has cleaned the brickwork, rebuilt walls and installed new gutters and downpipes.

PLP Construction and Oldham council are working together to deliver the project.

Fencing has also been replaced in the area as it had been falling onto the pavement, while new garden walls have been introduced.

Earlier this month, the Vision for Kirkholt project progressed with the demolition of three blocks of flats on Queens Drive.

The initiative involves the Oldham Rochdale Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder, Rochdale council and Rochdale Boroughwide Housing.
