Hammersmith and Fulham council has helped erect some metal railings on a riverside path at Rosebank Wharf in Fulham, it has been reported.
According to the London Informer, a number of people had died or been seriously injured after falling over the side into the Thames near to the Fulham FC ground and elderly campaigners have been fighting for improvements to safety there for three years.
"As a council, we have been pushing for a solution to this hazardous stretch of river wall for some time and are thrilled that the railings are now up," said Hammersmith and Fulham council cabinet member for environment Nicholas Botterill.
He added that people will now be able to walk along the path and enjoy the walk along the river without having to be concerned about their safety.
In other railings news, Art on the Railings was due to start in Norwich this month and will be running one weekend every month for the remainder of the year.
