Hightown installs gates after resident complaints

New gates have been erected in Hightown following complaints from local people, it has been reported.

Gates on Sandy Lane at the rail yard next to Our Lady of Victories Church have been replaced and Liberal Democrat Manor Ward councillor John Gibson said that the new gate erections are a true victory for persistence and community effort, according to the Crosby Herald.

"For years and years I, along with others in the community, would complain to Railtrack about the dilapidated state of the yard gates," Mr Gibson told the news provider.

He said that the gates were eventually installed towards the end of January, claiming that they are "smart" as well as "a credit to the area".

Mr Gibson added that it was important the gates were respectable as they stand next to Our Lady of Victories Church.

Earlier this month, This Is Wales reported that a petition was organised calling for gates to be added to a level crossing in the Amman Valley after a car collided with a train.
