A man has suggested the new erection of welcoming gates should take place in Cross Gates because he has issues with the original structures, it has been reported.
Sam Hamblett, from the area in Leeds, made his comments to the Yorkshire Evening Post and said the original gates do not have the ideal aesthetic that successfully welcomes people to Cross Gates.
"What should have happened in the early design stage was to organise a competition for local schools to design a set of gates," he told the news provider.
He added that the ideal design would show "some recognition to the area of Cross Gates" and not hint that it was a meeting place for farmers from the dales as he thought the original design suggested.
Earlier this month, Liverpool city council announced a clean-up of Princes Park, with the railings around the Sunburst Gates to be replaced and re-painted.
