Avon and Somerset police are urging residents in the Huish Episcopi area to heighten their home security, which may include the implementation of iron gates.
The call for increased home security comes after a recent walk-in theft occurred at a dwelling property in Huish Episcopi where a handbag was stolen.
"Please ensure that your doors and windows are locked when you are out and that all doors are secured if you are in the property but asleep," the police said.
Avon and Somerset police are also looking for potential witnesses of the burglary to come forward.
The police are looking for information after an armed robbery took place at a bookmakers in Patchway on February 24th.
Robbers entered the establishment with weapons and took off with around £500 in cash, including £200 in £1 coins, which may hint that heightened security is need with additions such as iron gates.
