A community working group has been granted funds to the tune of £3,600 to make an area of land more useable.

New gates and fences are to be installed on land outside Forres in Scotland, allowing for the creation of a proper home for workhorses, the Forres Gazette states.

The animals are going to be working in the local area completing tasks such as transporting wood from the nearby forests. Other work is designed to help make the land yet more accessible to local residents.

Jonathon Caddy, one of the directors of Duneland, a company involved in the running of the land, told the paper: "I feel excited about a conscious, positive vision being grounded through this structure where local people have a say in and get involved with how land is managed around them."

He added that through undertaking land management tasks the locality is able to take responsibility for their area.

Duneland's initial company goals included working for the protection of the Dunes area, as well as ensuring public access to the region.
