Gates at Northwich FC to stay shut

The gates of Northwich's Victoria football club are to remain shut until the ground has been sold.

According to the Northwich Guardian, the club's former landlord, Mike Connett has gone out of business and his company Beaconet is now in receivership.

Jim Rushe, owner of the club, is leading a consortium in buying the ground for £1.5 million as part of a plan to open the gates as soon as possible so the team can begin playing its home fixtures again.

Speaking to the newspaper, a spokesman said: "Beaconet provide all the necessary services to enable football matches to be played, although of course the company is no longer in a position to do that."

"The director is taking steps to return assets and equipment which the firm has bought through hire purchase or leased to the respective creditors. Currently therefore the ground is not available to the football club," he stated.

Previously, the same news provider reported that Jim Rushe and secretary Derek Nuttall had been banned from entering the gates of the ground by Mr Connett.
