A couple who removed their neighbour's fence in an argument over land are being forced to pay for the legal costs after the case went to court.
The Manchester Evening News reported that Mary Kendrick and John Edwards had been arguing over where the boundary line lay with neighbours Stephen and Barbara Evans for nearly five years.
When the Evans went on holiday, the pair decided to remove the fence to prove where the line lay but were taken to court by the couple on their return.
The court ruled against Ms Kendrick and Mr Edwards and led to the pair being forced to pay for the reinstatement of the fence, a small amount of damages and the majority of the legal fees.
Speaking to the newspaper, Judge Davies stated: "There was really no justification in the face of what was going on for them in taking that step at a time when they knew there was a dispute over the boundary."
Meanwhile, BBC Wales reported that children were endangering their lives by using an official short cut across a railway line which runs through a fence.
