Large gates to the front of a home helped to protect a family from a man wielding an axe.
Tasadaq Hussain, 31, of Bowman Terrace in Halifax, caused damage to the property of his ex-wife Sadia Qureshi's family home and threatened to kill the woman he was once married to, the Halifax Courier reports.
Hussain has been sentenced to six months in jail for the attack, which saw his throw a large stone at the car of Ms Qureshi's father.
When a family member went out of the house to see what was going on and saw Hussain at the property, the large steel gates in front of the home were shut, the newspaper says.
After the gates were shut, Hussain began hitting them with an axe and then started driving his car at them, the paper says the court heard.
However, no member of the family was physically hurt in the attack.
Earlier this week, insurance provider More Th>n stated that ensuring side access gates to houses have locks on them can help to cut the risk of suffering a break-in.
