A gang of burglars who broke into the home of an 85-year-old failed to take any money, a news story has claimed.
The Grantham Journal reported that the would-be-thieves broke into the woman's flat above the Allington Village Stores shop.
A padlocked metal gate, which they had to remove with a crowbar and a number of other doors held up the burglars before one of them set off an alarm causing them to flee.
Melanie Asquith, shop owner, told the newspaper: "This man went into my mother's bedroom, looked at her and shouted, 'where is the money?' She just screamed, 'I don't know'."
"All they have done is caused a lot of damage, got no money and frightened an 85-year-old woman. I hope they are proud of themselves," she added.
The police arrived within ten minutes of the alarm being raised.
Meanwhile, Your Local Guardian reported that a gang broke into a branch of chemist Superdrug in Sutton by removing bricks from an outer wall in an alley off the main high street in the town.
