A victim of flooding in Derbyshire has had a number of devices fitted to her home to help prevent water from leaking into her property, including a set of gates.
The Burton Mail reported that the unusual design of Linda Ward's home meant that every time it rained water would collect on her roof and soak through the walls.
Now flood gates have been fitted to her front and back doors to stop water getting in and are available to flood victims for £50.
The gates usually cost £300 to have fitted, said the South Derbyshire District Council.
Speaking to the news provider, Mrs Ward stated that for the first time in a number of years she does not dread the bad weather of the winter months.
"With flood gates at the front and back doors, the better drainage system and the pipe from the roof to stop water forming a pool, I can relax and make myself a cuppa in my new kitchen."
Meanwhile, Worthing Today reported that children at Twineham School have returned to the establishment after heavy rain meant they were unable to reach the gates.
