Security gates to be installed in Widnes

19/01/2009

A number of locations in Widnes are to be fitted with security gates in a bid to curb the behaviour of crooks and fly tippers, a news report has claimed.

The Runcorn & Widnes Weekly News stated that schemes to bring in gates were approved by Halton's development control committee at a recent meeting.

According to the newspaper, alley entrances on Squires Avenue, Brunner Road and Wavertree Avenue will benefit from the installation of the two metre high gates, designed to help a crack down on anti-social behaviour.

Other areas of the region to receive the additional security will include Ollier Street and Thomas Street, where gates will be used to block off the exits.

An alley between Haddon Drive and Tiverton will also receive a gate from the council.

Meanwhile, the Northampton Chronicle and Echo reported that a number of sets of wrought iron gates have recently been stolen from as many as five houses on the same street in Kingsthorpe.
