Following claims that a local park in Surrey is inaccessible to disabled visitors, the warden has responded by insisting that the gates are wide enough for wheelchair users.
Speaking to the Surrey Herald, St Anne's Hill warden Karl Veakins has said that a new pair of kissing gates at the site are wide enough for wheelchair users to pass through, while other gates at the park are also suitable.
His comments came after former Runnymede councillor Paul Greenwood complained that the newly installed gates would prevent access for some users.
"I pride myself on the accessibility to this park and I know that the gates are wide enough for someone to fit a wheelchair through," he said.
In other recent developments, Oswestry and Border Counties Advertiser reported earlier this month that the Cae Glas park in Oswestry, Scotland will be closing its disabled gates after dark in a bid to improve security in the area after repeated reports of antisocial behaviour.
