Police are considering the installation of alley gates in a street in Denaby, South Yorkshire in a bid to repel a gang of youths that has turned their neighbourhood into a "living hell".
Speaking to the South Yorkshire Times, Tanya Hill, of Hickleton street, bemoaned the criminal and antisocial behaviour of the teenage gang, who have reportedly slashed car tyres and assaulted an elderly lady living in the area.
Ms Hill added that while the street used to be respectable, it is now one of the worst places to live in the area.
Commenting on the situation, local sergeant Andy Clark said that the police are aware of the issue, insisting that it has increased patrols in the area.
"We are also working with partners to look at further crime prevention methods such as alley gates in the area," he said.
Earlier this month, a local councillor representing Fulwood, Lancashire has called on the council to install more alley gates in the county to reduce antisocial behaviour.
