Reward scheme to nab graffiti vandals

Reward scheme to nab graffiti vandals

26/11/2008

Police in Lancaster have announced that they will offer £100 rewards for information leading to the arrest of a graffiti artist who has been vandalising the city.

The offender, a white man thought to be in mid-20s and around 5"9', is wanted by police after he sprayed on shutters, gates and in alleyways earlier this month.

"It is important for these vandals to understand the harm they are causing to the community," said sergeant Matt Kneale, speaking to the Lancashire Evening Post.

He added that the "tags" are extremely costly to remove and degrade neighbourhood house prices.

The £100 reward comes as part of the Name the Tag campaign, which is being run in conjunction with crimestoppers.

In other developments, Lincolnshire police have recently urged residents to assess security measures after a spate of break-ins in North Thoresby.

Effective deterrents may include wrought iron gates and fences or new wooden garden gates.
