Winter an 'ideal time for a perimeter overhaul'

Residents who are planning on upgrading garden fences and gates have been advised that the winter months are an ideal time to do so.

According to the Sunday Mail's home renovation expert DIY Donny, residents will be able to plan the installation of new fences, gates and hedges more easily during this time because shrubbery will have stopped growing.

He advised: "A garden wall or fence can really set off the full outdoor space and is well worth considering, whether it is for privacy, security or for decorative purposes."

It was also noted that a new garden fence could also be a particularly wise investment during a period of tumbling house prices as they can help to bring added value to a garden.

In other recent developments, residents in South Tyneside have recently been urged to review their garden security after thieves made off with more than £10,000 worth of outdoor furniture, tools and appliances in a series of raids carried out over three months.
