Local police have urged residents in Henley-on-Thame, South Oxfordshire, to be vigilant against the increased risk of burglary after a series of break-ins last week.
The Oxford Times has reported that residents were targeted four times over a three-day period, with thieves making off with a Mercedes in one instance.
Burglars gained entry using a number of methods, including breaking patio windows, in addition to attempting to force entry using garden tools.
Commenting on the situation, detective sergeant Alun Clements urged people to get in contact with police if they witness any suspicious activity.
"I would also like to remind people to please ensure that all garden tools are locked away as they could be used by a burglar to help them break into their homes," he added.
Residents may wish to consider investing in new garden fences and gates in an effort to deter burglars.
This may be particularly important during the winter months, as Confused.com recently warned that there is a higher risk of burglary during this season.
