Two listed lodges that stand at the entrance to Phillips Park cemetery in east Manchester are being treated to major restoration works, the city council has announced.
A local couple will revive the Grade II structures, which have been left in a state of disrepair for more than twenty years.
The buildings were designed by Manchester architects Paull and Ayliffe, who were also responsible for designing the gates and piers of the main entrance at the junction of Alan Turing Way and Briscoe Lane, in addition to the Anglican mortuary chapel situated in the cemetery.
"We feel really fortunate to have found these two people ... We are confident they will undertake the renovation work with the love and care these historic buildings deserve," commented Eddie Smith, chief executive of New East Manchester.
For those who wish to visit the lodges and the cemetery's historic gates and mortuary, the cemetery opens at 9am on weekdays and 10am on weekends.
