Council workers have discussed the installation of new security gates to curb antisocial behaviour in the centre of Inverness.
According to Highland News, the Victorian Market entrance is frequently soiled by locals passing through the centre during the night.
Describing it as an escalating problem, ward manager for Inverness central and Millburn Jimmy Flint said that installing security gates would help to discourage people from spoiling the entrance over the weekend.
"There are security cameras in place and we do pass what is captured on camera straight to the police, so that should act as a deterrent, but the security gates are definitely needed," he said.
He added that the gates would also help to reduce ongoing maintenance and cleaning costs.
The Inverness Victorian Market houses more than 45 shops and is located in the centre of the Old Town.
It was rebuilt in 1890 following a fire and still boasts many period features.
