A school in Wiltshire has invested considerable sums in an effort to ramp up security at the site.
In addition to state of the art CCTV cameras, Churchfield School has also invested in automated security gates and perimeter fences to shut out intruders.
Speaking to This Is Wiltshire, head teacher Steve Flavin said that while some schools remain easily accessible, investing in gates would help to protect the site against break-ins.
"I would recommend that all schools look at their security and I am happy for any other schools to come and look at our facilities," he said.
He said that he had installed the gates and fences after becoming alarmed at the number of unauthorised entrants on the school grounds during the day and in the evening.
Elsewhere, Ravenshead Leisure Centre in Nottingham has also invested in steel gates and doors to reduce the risk of car theft.
The decision to increase security was made after thugs broke into dressing rooms and stole kits and car keys.
