Wrought iron gates erected to stop gang terror

23/10/2008

Residents in Grantham have erected two sets of wrought iron gates to prevent a gang of youths from terrorising the neighbourhood, it has emerged.

The Grantham Journal reported the plan to put up the wrought iron gates after residents in Redcross Street complained about ongoing harassment and antisocial behaviour from a gang of young people leaving the nearby Wyndham Park.

Local councillor Ray Wootten told the paper: "I am pleased to see the gate fitted as the residents of Redcross Street have had to endure years of criminal damage and anti-social behaviour."

He added that with the wrought iron gates in place, the residents would be able to enjoy the kind of lifestyle that other residents in Grantham take for granted.

Elsewhere, local paper The Press has reported that a new pair of wrought iron gates at Castle Gardens in Malton, York are the piece de resistance of the project.

The designer of the wrought iron gates took his inspiration from oak, elm and beech trees within the grounds.
