Calls for gates to be locked at Loughborough Cemetery have been made following attacks on graves at the site, it has been reported.
Veronica Herbert, who has been campaigning for increased security at the cemetery after her daughter's grave was vandalised, told the Loughborough Echo that she had meetings with both the council and police but nothing has happened since.
"The council say the gates can't be closed because there is a public footpath through there. But I have been told it is possible to have gates by another official," she commented.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for Leicestershire Constabulary informed the publication that regular patrols of the cemetery are undertaken and the organisation is currently working with the council to look into ways to deal with the issues.
The Blackburn Citizen recently revealed that residents in the Mill Hill area of Blackburn had sent a petition into the local council for some alley gates to be installed for increased security.
