Railings 'to be repaired at popular site'

30/04/2009

Railings at Splash Point on Seaford promenade are being repaired by Lewes district council, even though it said that it is not legally obliged to do so, it has been reported.

The council claimed that because of "public concern" they had made the decision to begin repairing the railings on April 27th, with work expected to take one week.

The local authority added that it is to make a grant application to Crown Estates for a contribution to the funding for the repairs.

"I hope that Lewes district council will get a thorough briefing from the relevant people in Seaford including councillors who have been involved regarding its grant application to the Crown Estate Commissioners," Seaford resident Anne Marr informed Eastbourne Today.

The news provider reported that the Seaford promenade is popular among tourists.

Earlier this month, the London Informer reported that Hammersmith and Fulham council helped erect metal railings on a riverside path at Rosebank Wharf in Fulham after a number of accidents occurred at the site.
