Homes in an area of Leeds are getting free security measures installed, which may include new gates.
The project is being funded by Safer Leeds and will target the Elthams area of Woodhouse, with door and window locks set to be fitted for free.
Officers from the North West Inner Neighbourhood Policing Team and Community Action and Support Against Crime (CASAC) representatives will be looking around every home in the area.
They will be conducting security assessments and CASAC will be installing the door and window locks where they are needed.
"Target hardening of homes will help to reduce burglaries, but we must also all be vigilant and make sure doors are locked," remarked Les Carter, executive board member responsible for community safety and chair of Safer Leeds.
In recent security news, an alley gates scheme has been undertaken in Stoke with 15 gates installed to help reduce the number of burglaries in the area.
