New railings have been introduced to Blackhills Road in Horden with the intention of stopping people parking on double yellow lines, it has been reported.
The move forms part of a £100,000 project on the road that has also seen new paving and road surfacing introduced as well as litter bins and a cycle storage area, according to the Hartlepool Mail.
Michael Fishwick, project manager with the Horden Regeneration Partnership, told the newspaper that the work was a big improvement.
"The improvements are not just for the traffic. The area is more pedestrian-friendly now. It is easier to cross the car park to the shops," he commented.
Mr Fishwick, who admitted that the work "has caused some disruption", added that the final touches are expected to be finished within weeks.
In other Hartlepool news, people from the area will be able to raise issues at council meetings on May 27th and 28th.
Those looking for railings or gate improvements in their street could share their views at the gatherings.
