Children in Sheffield have put their creativity to good use in designing new railings for a playground.
The play area at Ruskin Park in Walkley now features boundary railings with 3D animal characters.
Designed by Bristol-based artists Cod Steaks and children from nearby primary schools, the railings are being officially unveiled today (May 29th).
The renovation of the area also includes new play equipment, railings to create a dog-free area and woodland, with everything accessible to the disabled.
"Play is a vital factor in a child's physical, emotional and social development, so with improved play provision, parents will feel confident to allow their children to play beyond the home and enjoy the wealth of benefits that play brings," commented councillor Shaffaq Mohammed, cabinet member for climate change and local environment.
This week also saw another park in Sheffield improved with new gates and railings.
Sharrow's Mount Pleasant Park was transformed to improve access and provide a park the community can be proud of.
