Donation fund supports community projects

Donation fund supports community projects

18/06/2009

The Co-operative Bank's Customer Donation Fund makes twice yearly donations to Community Directplus customers so that projects can be undertaken.

One initiative that will benefit from funding is one to build a wildlife garden in a school, which may mean that the area will be seeing some new gates soon.

A total of £220,000 has been given to 266 groups since the account was introduced in 2003 and another initiative set to gain from the money is the construction of a skate park, where some iron gates could go up for grinding on.

"These donations will really help to support community groups across the UK to fund projects that reach to the heart of their communities," commented John Barker, head of business banking at The Co-operative Bank.

Last month, a project in Sheffield saw some new railings introduced to a play area at Ruskin Park in the Walkley area of the city.
