Gorsedd Stones iron railings given fresh look

Iron railings at Ebbw Vale's Gorsedd Stones have been given a fresh lick of paint, it has been reported.

It comes after funding from Blaenau Gwent Council and the Assembly's Heads of the Valleys Fund was supplied to restore the stones in preparation for the National Eisteddfod proclamation ceremony, according to the South Wales Argus.

The ceremony will see Gorsedd of Bards formally announce that Blaenau Gwent will hold the 2010 Eisteddfod and the official procession will take place on June 27th, the publication noted.

On top of the railings improvements, trees and a new stone wall have been added, while disabled access has been supplied also, the newspaper revealed.

Last month, the Ebbw Valley Railway was named Welsh Project of the Year at the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Wales Awards.

Blaenau Gwent Council was behind the initiative, which may have seen new gates introduced to the site, as six new stations were erected.
