Some new railings are to be introduced at St John's Churchyard in Leeds as part of a £180,000 project, it has been revealed.
The initiative will also see new seating and an outdoor performance space installed at the site, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, which could mean new gates will also be brought in.
Andrew Carter, executive member for development and regeneration at Leeds City Council, told the newspaper that the churchyard is one of the city's "hidden gems" and provided "an oasis of calm" for many people.
"This project will give this classic building the churchyard it deserves and provide another high quality, accessible public green space," he said.
He claimed that the church has a great history, revealing that it dates back to the 17th century.
In related news, a £20 million project to construct two new state-of-the-art health and council service centres in Leeds has been given the green light, meaning new gates could be installed at this city site.
