Some new alley gates have been installed at Orchard Grove in Crumlin in a bid to prevent antisocial behaviour, it has been reported.
The Housing Executive has delivered the gates project in work with Antrim Borough Community Safety Partnership, through its 4 Tier Security Scheme, according to Antrim Today.
Local resident Mrs Edel Carson told the newspaper that it was excellent to have the gates implemented in the area and that she had already noticed an improvement in the area with residents seeing benefits.
"With no one else able to get into the alley, there has been no trouble, it is much quieter and people feel safer in their homes," she commented.
Councillor Brian Graham, chairman of Antrim Borough Community Safety Partnership, said to the news provider that the benefits of alley gates are complementary to his organisation's "strategic aims".
Rochdale Online recently reported that the local council had introduced alley gates in Castleton, in a bid to secure 45 houses on St Martins Street and Newchurch Street.
