Historic wrought iron gates go on sale

13/07/2009

Some historic wrought iron gates from St Luke's Hospice in Northwich have been put up for sale, it has been reported.

The gates have been hanging at the Queensway hospice in Winsford for 20 years and have now been taken down to make way for extra parking space, according to Northwich Guardian.

Fundraiser Aimie Worsnop told the newspaper that there are actually two gates up for grabs and the measure 8.6 ft wide by 6 ft high, which could interest collectors of historic artefacts.

"They are a familiar sight at the hospice and we hope they will become a much-loved part of someone's home or business," she added.

In related news, This Is Staffordshire recently reported that Stoke-On-Trent City Council is to look into plans for the former Westcliffe Hospital site in Chell.

The news provider revealed that boundary walls and access gates would be retained at the site, which could potentially become self-contained flats for extra care housing if plans are given the green light.
