Children at a school in Sale have gathered together to give their flood defence gates a makeover.
A number of pupils from the local schools have joined together with local artists to create the designs for the gates, which have been hit by graffiti recently, the Messenger reported.
Each school picked one top design from its pupils to be entered into the grand competition, being run by the Environment Agency.
Tony Dean, regional director at the organisation, told the newspaper that the it wants the local community to be involved in the makeover of the gates.
"We are really looking forward to seeing all this artwork come," he added.
The Sale East gates mean that high water levels are directed to Sale Water Park and are therefore directed away from local buildings.
It is not the first time children have got involved in the design of gates, with pupils from a school near Didcot designing some memorial gates last week for chairman of East Hagbourne Parish Council Monica Lawson, according to a Newsquest publication.
