Gates installed 'to prevent fishy actions'

Gates installed 'to prevent fishy actions'

26/07/2009

Members of Grimsby Angling Club have put up some gates in a bid to put off vandals from attacking a certain area, it has been reported.

Dean Were and Richard Legg, of Laceby Acres, have now become managers of Aylesby Lake, which uses to be a hotspot for vandals, according to thisisgrimsby.co.uk.

"We used to have a lot of trouble with vandalism, but we haven't had anything at all since we installed the gates," Mr Legg told the news provider.

Mr Were and Mr Legg are now trying to organise a charity fishing match in aid of the Bottoms Up Appeal, the publication revealed.

They want other clubs to join in so that they can raise some money for charity, Mr Were told thisisgrimsby.co.uk.

In other local news, the bailey bridge over the river Freshney at the end of Tonnant Way, Laceby Acres estate, has been shut because of vandalism, which could hint that new gates are required for extra safety.
