Businesses may want to bring in some new gates onto defunct construction sites, as some are ceasing to operate because of a lack of funding, it has been claimed.
RSA, formerly Royal Sun Alliance, has said that such derelict sites are open to arson and theft, meaning companies should look to secure them properly if they do not want expensive equipment stolen.
The organisation recommended building a perimeter of timber hoarding around the premises, which may interest those firms looking into new security gates.
It also suggested having decent levels of lighting at night on the grounds.
"During these hard times, site managers and owners must seek professional advice to ensure that their site is totally protected and to prevent them from losing money unnecessarily," commented David Swigciski, regional training leader for construction at RSA.
