A planning application has been submitted to Moray Council asking for railings to be installed at St Giles' Church's main door, it has been reported.
The board of the church is asking for the railings in an attempt to prevent graffiti and litter at the site, according to local paper the Press & Journal.
Property convener Ian Chambers told the newspaper that he hoped the railings would make the area more attractive for visitors.
"New visitors think it's a lovely place but all that litter is there and some of the graffiti is quite offensive. If we put the barrier up it might stop them from stepping over," Mr Chambers commented.
The publication revealed that the project to erect a barrier is estimated to cost in the region of £5,000.
In recent news, 763 new homes in Moray were approved by councillors, which may mean new gates are to appear in the area.
