Alley gates set for Chapel Allerton

Alley gates set for Chapel Allerton

19/08/2009

Three alley gates schemes are set to go ahead in Chapel Allerton after £15,000 was earmarked by the local council to pay for them, it has been reported.

The funding has been taken from the local authority's Well-Being Fund, with St Martin's Gardens, Riviera Gardens and Miles Hill Road identified as areas that would get the gates, according to Chapel Allerton Today.

Councillor Matthew Lobley, chairman of the council's North East (Inner) Area Committee, told the newspaper that it was excellent news that the local authority will be funding the gates, asserting that the gates will help prevent antisocial behaviour.

"Once these gates are installed they will have an immediate and positive effect on the quality of life for residents," said Mr Lobley.

Alley gates were also recently introduced in Orchard Grove, Crumlin as part of a Northern Ireland Housing Executive community safety initiative.

Antrim Borough Community Safety Partnership partly funded the project.ADNFCR-1968-ID-19322938-ADNFCR
