Sunderland residents look for railings help

Residents in an area of Sunderland are calling for railings to help prevent antisocial behaviour, it has emerged.

A number of people from parts of Ashbrooke have complained about bicycles and motorbikes going past their windows, leading the residents' association to call on landlord Gentoo to install metal railings around certain homes, according to the Sunderland Echo.

Ward councillor Paul Maddision told the newspaper: "On most of the boundaries of these properties there is only a small brick wall and where there is a railing on top it is very low and there are no gates."

New metal railings on the top of the walls along the front of properties between blocks and metal gates to the homes' front paths should get rid of the problems being seen in the area, Mr Maddision added.

In related news, the Press & Journal recently reported that a planning application was submitted to Moray Council asking for railings to be installed at the main door of St Giles' Church to prevent vandals from attacking.ADNFCR-1968-ID-19326476-ADNFCR
