Local residents in Ulverston, Cumbria, are being invited to give their local park a spruce up this weekend (beginning September 26th), including the chance to make some decorations for the railings.
Friends and parents are holding a fun day at Lightburn Park after forming a group to apply for funding to approve local facilities, the North-West Evening Mail reports.
The event begins tomorrow with a pottery workshop, where local people can go to make a variety of items to decorate the park's railings.
"Hopefully people from the surrounding houses can get together and have a chat and discuss some of the issues that are currently impacting the park and get some ideas of what people would like the park to be and how we can improve it," organiser Tony Taylor told the paper.
In related news, the Herald Express has reported that a Devon pensioner splashed out thousands of pounds on a local park, including repainting the railings, as a tribute to his late wife.
