A new Public Realm Scheme in Northern Ireland's Ballyclare town centre, which includes new paving, railings and lampposts, has been officially opened.
Designed to enhance the look of the area for visitors and local residents, the £676,000 scheme saw high-quality granite paving stones and kerbing used to regenerate the town centre, along with traditional-style street lanterns and new railings.
"It is good to see our town centre being enhanced for everyone in the town and for visitors," commented Niall McConkey, president of Ballyclare Chamber of Trade.
"Our town centre is the heart of the community, we want people to feel proud of Ballyclare and the work which has been done ensures this is the case."
Funding for the project was provided by the Department for Social Development, Department of Regional Development Roads Service and Newtownabbey Borough Council.
Major regeneration works to the town centres of Lurgan and Portadown were also recently announced, which may include the installation of new railings.
