Gates stolen from play centre and laid across road

Vandals have stolen the heavy gates from an adventure centre in Shropshire and laid them across a busy road in the area, according to reports.

The bulky metal gates, which had been torn from the entrance to the Edge Adventure Centre, were placed across the A458 Much Wenlock to Bridgnorth road, the Shropshire Star reports.

Local police are appealing for members of the public to come forward if they saw anything that could help catch the people responsible for this incident, which was made all the more dangerous because the road is unlit.

"It is suspected that they were responsible for removing the gates from the hinges and placing them across both lanes of the A458," Constable Stuart Lippitt told the paper.

The news follows reports that a set of memorial plaques listing the names of soldiers killed in two world wars have been replaced after they were stolen by vandals from gates in Neath, Wales.
