A major restoration project of a Bolton park, which will include the replacement of a set of railings, is due to take place in the weeks to come.
A £7.3 million makeover of Queens Park, funded by a £4.3 million Lottery grant and a further £3 million from Bolton Council, is expected to be completed within three years, the Bolton News reports.
The work will include the restoration of Dobson Bridge in November, as well as the construction of a brand new pavilion.
Meanwhile, railings which were removed during World War II will be replaced.
Additionally, a new garden feature will be built on the former site of Butterfly World and an ornamental fountain dating back to the 1900s will be replaced.
"Once the Lottery funding has been spent, it can't be wasted," TV wildlife expert Chris Packham told the paper.
"This has to be followed through for the following years."
It follows news that Sunderland's Barnes park has been closed for a £3.3 million makeover, which will include the restoration of railings and gates.
