A number of public-spirited volunteers are helping to give an Exeter primary school a spruce-up, including repainting benches and railings, during the half term break.
Sixteen people from EDF Energy will travel to St David's Primary School on Dinham road to give railings a lick of paint, wash exterior walls and pull up weeds on the premises, the Express & Echo reports.
Their efforts are part of the energy firm's Helping Hands scheme, which gives all EDF staff two days of company time off a year to support local environmental and community projects in their area.
"I knew that we'd had volunteers at the school before so I offered our help," commented Becca Southard, a customer service adviser at EDF.
"Hopefully, we can help make a difference."
It follows reports in the Oxford Mail that a group of adults with learning difficulties have been learning new skills in a scheme that saw people volunteering to repaint the railings in Church Green.
