The proceeds of crime are being put to good use in south Wales, where community projects stand to benefit from a funding boost of more that £97,000.
Among the projects receiving cash is the Pill Bank Neighbourhood Watch Alley Gate Scheme, which has been given £12,500 from the community cashback scheme, the South Wales Argus reports.
The money will be used to install two alley gates to cut down on crime in an area notorious for high levels of drug use and other antisocial behaviour.
Other schemes in line for funding include the Urban Arts project in Bettws, Newport, which is led by reformed young offender Darren Young and will involve reaching out to youngsters with music production, rapping and dance projects.
It follows reports in the York Press that residents in the Westfield and Dringhouses regions are calling for alley gates to be installed to cut down on antisocial behaviour.
