A Bootle couple were subjected to a spooky ordeal in the run-up to Halloween after a council security employee locked the gates of a cemetery they were visiting.
Richard and Anne-Marie Mccubbin were visiting the graveyard at Linacre Lane on October 13th when a Sefton Security man locked up the gates before driving away in a van, the Bootle Times reports.
Fortunately the pair were able to climb over the perimeter wall surrounding the cemetery, saving them from a potentially eerie night - but they have warned that a couple ten years older than them would have no chance scaling the walls.
"What we do need is for Sefton to carry out some security patrols in there so ordinary decent people feel safe then they are visiting a family grave," Mr Mccubbin told the paper.
It was recently reported in the Swindon Advertiser that a family grave was left unmarked after callous thieves stole the brass railings and plaques from it.
