The Rise of Railings

7th January 2009… With more and more homeowners looking to add value to their homes by improving rather than moving, Cannock Gates, the UK’s largest manufacturer of gates and railings, is seeing a resurgence in the popularity of wrought iron style railings, with enquiries noticeably increasing in the last two months.

Julie Turnbull, General Manager for Cannock Gates, explains: “We’re seeing a considerable increase in the number of people buying gates who are also looking for complementary wrought iron style railings for their homes. Treated properly, wrought iron style railings should withstand all the elements the great British weather throws at us, requiring very little maintenance. Most people have them with a black finish, adding a touch of gold or silver, but some people paint them in other classic colours such as dark green or blue. As well as adding to the aesthetic appeal of a property, railings are also a great way of enhancing home security. This, coupled with our new bespoke service can really help to add value to the tradesman’s service offering.”
